COMMUNITY AND CAMPUS INPUT
Auburn
University is asking for your help in creating a roadmap to
the future at AU. The Strategic Planning Committee has identified
15 questions that need to be answered in order to help shape
the University in the years to come. Input is welcome from all
AU constituencies. The instructions below will guide you through
the process. Deadline for submissions is Friday, Sept. 30. Questions
about the process should be emailed Bill Sauser at sauser@business.auburn.edu
or faxed to 844-4092.
Strategic

To
participate in the continuing dialogue after the 8/22-23 Strategic
Planning forums you'll need an active internet connection
and a one-time download of Groupsystems II client software.
Please allow about 10 minutes for this one-time process.
Getting
the Software
1.
Go to: http://hosting1.groupsystems.com
2.
When the screen loads, In the upper right corner of the screen
there will be red text that says First Time User? in red.
Click on the link that says Test Your System. This is a one-time
test and java client installation
1.
A security window will appear asking "Do you wand to
trust the signed applet distributed by "Groupsystems,
inc?". Click Always
2.
If you don't have it, Jave Plug-in 1.4.2 will self-install
3.
The windows installer will run
a. Click on the "I
accept the terms of the licensing agreement " button
b. Click on Next
c. Click on Typical installation.
Installation will take a few minutes
d. InstallShield Wizard
Completed
click finish
e. Click on always when
the the security certificate window appears

Congratulations! Your system is ready to run GSII will appear
in red
a. Click on the continue
button
Adding
Your Ideas
1.
Go to: http://hosting1.groupsystems.com.
15 key thematic areas have emerged from the question development
phase. You may view the entire list of themes and sub-issues
at (www

2. Enter one of the following login Names: au1, au2, au3...through
au9.
3.
Enter wareagle! as the password (the exclamation point is
part of the password.)

Click on Login or SSL Login to proceed
A password manager may offer to retain the logons

A red My Tasks will open to My Groupsystems II. Stay there.
Below it, you'll see a folder that says Default. To the right
will be a message that says Click a task below to join a session
Click
on the link that says Strategic Questions
A
Security Information prompt will load telling you that the
page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Click Yes
A Java applet will load. This step will take a minute or two
depending on the speed of your PC and internet connection
a
little patience is useful here the first time it is loaded.
An orange Groupsystems box will appear

Strategic Questions will load. Double-click on the first line
that says Welcome! Double-click this text box for instructions.
Click the close button to close the window.
6.
You may wish to maximize the screen size. This is not a default
feature. Click on the middle box in the upper right corner
of the Strategic Questions window to maximize the screen.
7.
Use your keyboard up and down arrow keys to move to the area
you'd like to respond to. Use the "enter" key, or
double click on the topic to open the dialog box. Each is
a separate chat room. Enter your ideas in the window that
appears and use F9 or click the close button to submit. When
you do, your comment will be added.
It
is not necessary or expected to provide answers to every question.
Offer alternatives for the issues that are most important
to you.

You can view and respond to comments in each topic area by
double-clicking to open any topic area.
9.
When you are finished click on the red X in the upper right
corner of the screen to leave the Topic Commenter screen.
Click on the red X on the following screen (or the Logout
tab) to exit Groupsystems II
10.
You may re-visit the site as often as you wish to add additional
thoughts and perspective.
