Executive Director

Day Job: As I approached the end of a career as a Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI, I began the search for an employment opportunity that would provide me with an opportunity to serve the public in a meaningful way, preferably in the state of Alabama.  I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Executive Director of Campus Safety and Security at Auburn University.

Since my arrival, I have challenged each of those assigned to Campus Safety and Security to deliver a level of service that will make Auburn University as safe as possible for its students, faculty, staff, and visitors.  Our ability to accomplish this vision is enhanced by the University’s relationship with the City of Auburn’s Police and Fire Divisions.

Each day presents its own set of challenges, whether its security related, emergency management, compliance or engagement with public safety.  Together as a team, I am confident in our collective ability to make your Auburn experience safe and pleasurable.

Favorite Auburn Experience: Having lived and worked in East Central Alabama for more than fifteen years, I recall several instances where I and an enthusiastic son attended  football games on the Plains.  Perhaps the most memorable occasion was the 2001 Iron Bowl.  My son (age 6) and I were afforded an opportunity to watch the Iron Bowl from the Monster.com blimp as the crew was in town to cover the SEC matchup of the week. Spending five-plus hours in a small passenger cabin of the blimp, no restrooms, no water, no snacks and six-year-old was a real blast.  Although, Auburn lost the game, Auburn went on to dominate the decade by winning 7 out of 10 games in the 2000s.

Interests:   I have always believed that it is important to have balance in one’s life; faith, family, and work.  I have not always had a perfectly balanced life; because life happened and off to work I went.  In my spare time, I enjoy running (not as fast as I once was), attending high school and collegiate sporting events and riding the tranquil country roads of Alabama or the mountains of Tennessee on my motorcycle.  As a parent, I really enjoy traveling with my wife to see and support our son wherever he might be on his event-filled journey to responsible adulthood.
