Auburn University has completed the final draft of the University’s natural hazard mitigation plan, which assesses the natural hazards that can affect our campus and our vulnerabilities to those hazards. The plan focuses on reducing the risk of loss of life, injury, and property damage due to natural hazards such as high winds and severe storms. This plan also identifies specific actions that can be undertaken to minimize or eliminate these vulnerabilities. These projects can be implemented as funding becomes available. This plan is a requirement for Auburn’s eligibility for federal mitigation grant programs.
Each year, millions of federal hazard mitigation grant dollars are made available to eligible applicants via programs such as the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) and the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program (PDM). With an approved hazard mitigation plan, Auburn will become eligible for these competitive grant funds.
Emergency Operations Plan Overview
Auburn University has an Emergency Operations Plan in place that defines the organizational structure for response to emergencies of a magnitude that would cause significant disruption to University operations. The plan identifies members of the Crisis Management Team, which is responsible for managing the operational aspects of the University's response to an emergency event.
In the event of any crisis situation, including a weather emergency, significant utility disruption, hazardous materials release, or campus violence incident, the appropriate members of the Crisis Management Team will assemble to mitigate the consequences, promote the safety of the community, and provide for “continuity of business” for the University's educational, research and outreach missions.

Since prompt action is critical during an emergency, please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with these guidelines before an emergency occurs.
