2012 Healthy Tigers Wellness Initiative
The Auburn University Department of Payroll and Employee Benefits is pleased to announce the continuation of a healthcare benefit for Auburn University employees who subscribe to Auburn University's Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance plan for the benefit year 2013. Employees who elect to take advantage of the Healthy Tigers Wellness Initiative can earn a $25.00 per month credit on their health insurance premiums (up to $300.00 per year) by participating in a health and wellness screening program that will continue to be coordinated by the Auburn University Pharmaceutical Care Center (AUPCC) located in 2155 Walker Building, Harrison School of Pharmacy.
The health screenings will again include completing an optional short health and wellness questionnaire; having a fingerstick blood test performed to check cholesterol and blood sugar levels; getting a blood pressure measurement; and participating in an optional height, weight, body mass index (BMI) and percent body fat analysis. One screening is required between January 1 and December 19, 2012 in order to qualify for the 2013 insurance premium discount.
Employee enrollment in the Healthy Tigers Wellness initiative will resume in January 2012. In addition to the employee screening, spouses who are covered under the AU BCBS insurance (family plan or employee-spouse plan) will be required to be screened for 2013. Appointments may be scheduled on line through the Healthy Tigers web site. Those who do not have internet access may call the AUPCC at (334)844-4099. Clinics are scheduled for locations across the main campus, at AU Montgomery and at key sites throughout the state. Clinics will be conducted from January through November 2012. The AUPCC will not conduct screenings during the month of December.
In lieu of attending a clinic an employee who sees his or her doctor regularly and has the required tests completed through a physician may have the doctor submit a Healthcare Provider Screening Form to AUPCC to verify discount eligibility. The screening visit must have occurred after January 1, 2012 and prior to the deadline for submission of forms which must be received no later than noon on December 19, 2012. Verification of receipt of forms in the AUPCC is strongly encouraged. Forms received after the noon December 19, 2012 deadline will not be accepted for the discount in 2013.
NOTE: Lab, office visit and other screening costs associated with the some of the Healthy Tigers screening procedures, if conducted by your physician, may be billable to you unless they are deemed to be medically necessary. Please consult with your doctor or your BCBS Summary of Benefits to determine how this might affect you.
All information concerning this healthcare benefit is posted on the Healthy Tigers web site. Employees and their spouses who are screened before the 2012 deadline and complete all required follow up with a physician (if results are abnormal) will be eligible for the $25/month health insurance premium discount which will take effect January 1, 2013.
