Dependent Eligibility Audit
We all know how important good health care coverage is and how expensive that coverage can be. What you may not know is that Auburn's health insurance plan is self-funded. This means every dollar spent on your health care that isn't paid by you through your premiums, co-pays and deductibles is paid by Auburn University, not by BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama. BlueCross Blue Shield is simply a third party administrator - they process our claims and payments.
As your employer, it is Auburn's responsibility to monitor our benefit plans in an effort to keep our health insurance costs down and to ensure our plans remain affordable. We must also ensure that anyone participating in the plan is truly eligible to participate. Providing coverage for ineligible dependents raises the cost of insurance coverage for all participants.
In an effort to reduce plan expenses, Auburn University has retained the services of ContinuousHealth to help us conduct a dependent eligibility audit for our health and dental insurance plans. ContinuousHealth is an independent third-party company located in Atlanta, GA. ContinuousHealth has an outstanding record of helping plans reduce health plan costs, and they offer personalized insurance counseling to help those found to be ineligible find alternative coverage.
If you have dependents enrolled in the health and/or dental insurance plans, you will be asked to provide documents to substantiate their eligibility to participate. Additional information concerning these documents will be sent to you from ContinuousHealth in January. Further information about privacy and security of your information will also be included. In the meantime, you may refer to the frequently asked questions referenced below.
