Troubleshooting Internet Explorer and Web Focus
- Java must be enabled
- Active Scripting must be enabled
- Signed Active X controls enabled
Java Troubleshooting
Test the Java by visiting a Web page that has a java applet on it
Either Microsoft's VM or Sun's Java must be installed
- Tools -> Internet Options-> Advanced.
Look for Sun Java (steaming coffee cup icon) and Microsoft VM icons
If both are present, click to clear the checkbox next to the Sun Java icon and click apply.
- Close Web Browser, reopen it and try logging back into Web Focus.
If the java applet still won't run, uninstall Sun's Java.
Check the Java settings:
- Tools -> Internet Options-> Advanced.
Make sure JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled (requires restart) box is checked.
- Tools -> Internet Options-> Security-> Internet->Custom Level-> Microsoft VM -> Java Permissions.
Make sure the security level is medium or low. High security level disables Java in IE 6.0.
- Java Script settings
Tools -> Internet Options-> Security-> Internet->Custom Level-> Scripting-> Active Scripting.
Make sure Active Scripting is enabled.
Downloaded Program Troubleshooting
- Download Ad Aware and run it
- Remove any junk programs.
Clean Boot the computer

Internet Explorer Troubleshooting
- Repairing Internet Explorer
Windows 2000 and IE 6.0
Control Panel-> Add Remove Programs-> Internet Explorer-> Change/Remove
Choose the Repair option
If Internet Explorer does not appear in Add Remove Programs, uninstall the Windows Service pack if present.
Internet Explorer will appear in add remove programs.
- Apply Service packs for Internet Explorer??
If repairing Internet Explorer 6.0 does not work, uninstall it via add remove programs.
Do this before reapplying any service packs.
Windows XP and IE 6.0
- Control Panel-> Add Remove Programs-> Internet Explorer-> Change/Remove
Choose the Repair option
If Internet Explorer does not appear in Add Remove Programs, uninstall the Windows Service pack if present.
Internet Explorer will appear in add remove programs.
- Don't need IE 6.0 SP 1 if Windows XP Service Pack 1 is installed.
- Windows XP SP 1 contains Java virtual machine.
- Windows XP SP 1-a does not contain Java virtual machine.
- Internet Explorer 6.0 does not uninstall easily from Windows XP.
- Do not download and install a previous version of Internet Explorer.
