Responsibilities of the AU Student Veteran
The Auburn University student veteran must:
- Report any change in enrollment status to the Auburn University Veterans Affairs Office.
- Coordinate their course enrollment with their respective Academic Advisors.
- Apply for VA Educational Benefits.
- Submit to AU VA Office any any/all award letters for scholarships, fellowships, waivers, and any payment of tuition and fees etc. other than Title IV, Pell grants and student loans.
Application Process
The following documents are required to apply for benefits:
- DD214, member 4 copy, for prior Active Military Service
- NOBE (Notice of Basic Eligibility) for Reservist/National Guard (All Services) All KICKER Contract paperwork if appropriate
- Letter of Eligibility for Dependents (Chapter 35)
- Chapter 31 (Voc Rehab) Must Contact the Montgomery Regional Office, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment for VA form 28-1905 Authorization and Certification Form
- Post 9/11 GI Bill, Certificate of Eligibility (COE)... Chapter 33
Enrollment Certification
- Post 9/11 GI Bill: By Term
- Active Duty: By Term
- All Others: School Year (August - May)
- Summer Term: By Student Request, By Term
- All Distance Learning - All Chapters: By Term
Spann Scholarship
Named for America's first casualty of war in the War on Terror, Auburn alum Mike Spann, this is a 4-year scholarship for the children of U.S.service members who were killed in the line of duty.
