Construction Projects Update

Construction UPDATE: Taxiway "Charlie" Project - 05/03/2012

The Taxiway "Charlie" Project is moving forward despite the difficulties we have had with construction scheduling. Most of the work located outside the runway safety area is completed. The current schedule is to CLOSE RUNWAY 18-36 for 14 consecutive calendar days, including nights and weekends, beginning on Monday, June 4, 2012, at 7:00 a.m. CDT running through Monday, June 18, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. CDT. Runway 18-36 must be closed to allow construction crews to complete the 2 taxiway connectors that tie in to the runway and taxiway lighting located along the southern half of the runway.

Runway 11-29 will be open throughout the scheduled Runway 18-36 closure.

Other facilities and/or NAVAIDS that are scheduled to be out of service during the Runway 18-36 closure are:
  1. Runway 18-36 Runway Lighting
  2. Runway 36 LOC
  3. Runway 36 PAPI
  4. Runway 36 Approach Lights
We are hopeful to have all facilities and NAVAIDS up and running by the end of June 2012.

Please be sure to check ALL NOTAMs for the Auburn University Regional Airport (AUO) during this timeframe.

Thank you.

Other facilities and/or NAVAIDS that are scheduled to be out of service during the Runway 18-36 closure are:
  1. Runway 18-36 Runway Lighting

  3. Runway 36 PAPI
  4. Runway 36 Approach Lights

Construction UPDATE: Taxiway "Charlie" Project - 02/14/2012

To date the Taxiway "Charlie" Project is 2 to 3 weeks behind schedule. We are hoping for 2 to 3 weeks of acceptable weather to finish everything outside the runway safety area. Then we will look for a 2 week period of very good weather to tie in the 2 taxiway connectors near the southeastern end of the runway.

If all goes well we should have almost everything outside the runway safety area completed by the end of February or the first week of March. Then hopefully close runway 18-36 for 2 weeks in March. The runway closure could be pushed back to early April if the weather does not cooperate.

Best case scenario would be to have everything up and running late March. Worst case, hopefully, would be late April.

Please be sure to check ALL NOTAMs for the Auburn University Regional Airport (AUO) during this timeframe.

Thank you.
