The Southeastern Chapter will hold its annual meeting with the Association of Southeastern Biologists in New Orleans, 4-7 April 2001. Check the Southeastern Biology (The ASB Bulletin), the ASB Homepage (http://www.asb.appstate.edu/), or the meeting homepage (http://www.loyno.edu/~asb/) for details and deadlines. This meeting marks the 25th Anniversary of the Chapter. Our Silver Anniversary special events include a Wednesday evening social and a special Friday luncheon/Business Meeting featuring a talk by Eugene Odum and Frank McCormick. Charter members, past officers, and past recipients of the Odum Award will be recognized. Check the Chapter homepage for updates on the celebration plans.
Odum Award and Fund:
The Chapter sponsors the Eugene P. Odum Award for the best ecological paper presented by a student at the ASB meeting. The Odum Award Fund is not yet self-sufficient. Please donate to the Odum Fund this Winter when your membership is renewed. Make sure you designate the Chapter's Odum Fund Account (not the Society's Odum Teaching Award Account).
Elections:
The election for a new Vice-Chair for the 2001-2003 term will be held at the Spring meeting. Send suggestions for nominations to Chair Niki Nicholas at nsnicholas@tva.gov.
