Annual Business Meeting:

The annual business meeting of the Southeast Chapter was held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of The Association of Southeastern Biologist at Chattanooga, Tennessee on Friday, April 7. New officers elected for the 2000-2002 period are:
     Chair:Niki Stephanie Nicholas, Tennessee Valley Authority
Secretary:Paul A. Schmalzer, Dynamac Corporation, Kennedy Space Center

25th Anniversary of the Chapter:

The Chapter will celebrate its 25th anniversary next year at the ASB meeting in New Orleans. A committee has been formed to plan for next year's ESA-Southeastern Chapter 25th Anniversary celebration at the ASB meeting in New Orleans (April 4-7, 2001). The committee will be chaired by Bill Martin. Contact Bill with your suggestions.

Odum Award Winners:

This year there was a tie for the Chapter’s Odum Award for the best paper presented by a student. The winners were Ken Fortino and Karen Geissinger. Both are at the Biology Department at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina.
     Ken Fortino’s paper with Robert Creed was entitled Crayfish distributions and predatory fish: Is there a connection? ASB Bulletin 47(2):150 (Abstract #142), 2000.
     Karen Geissinger’s paper with Howard Neufeld was entitled Grazing influences on species diversity and net primary production in a southern Appalachian wet meadow. ASB Bulletin 47(2):211 (Abstract #314), 2000.
