Allan Michael Seibert receives National Fellowship
Allan Michael Seibert, a graduating senior in chemistry, is the recipient of a 2007 National Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Fellowship. Every year, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi awards Fellowships of $5,000 each to members entering the first year of graduate or professional study. Each Phi Kappa Phi chapter may select one candidate to compete for the Society-wide award.
Allan, a native of Mobile, AL, was initiated into the Auburn University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi in December, 2005. At Auburn, he has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and has been named to the College of Sciences and Mathematics Dean’s list every semester. Allan has been previously honored by Phi Kappa Phi as he received an Outstanding Freshman Scholastic Award in Fall 2004, an Outstanding Sophomore Male Award in Fall 2005, and was a recipient of a Susan Stacy Entrenkin Yates Scholastic Achievement Award in Spring 2006.
Allan has been active in the Honors College and is a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon, chemistry honor society. For the academic year 2005-06, he was a recipient of the College of Sciences and Mathematics Dean’s Undergraduate Research Fellow, and he has received several chemistry scholarships. In addition to his own studies, Allan finds time to serve as a tutor for chemistry and as an undergraduate teaching assistant for biology.
In addition to his excellent academic record, Allan has exhibited excellence with his writing and photography; he has served as the Glomerata yearbook photo editor for three years. Some of his works have been published in the Auburn Circle Literary Magazine.
One of his faculty nominations stated, “What really marks Mr. Seibert as a young scientist—what distinguishes him as genuinely gifted—is the dynamic equilibrium he has cultivated between his dedication to science and his passion for the liberal arts... The humanities inform his devotion to scientific knowledge, and scientific knowledge informs his devotion to humanity.”
