MathExcel is an exciting new Mathematics program that we are offering at Auburn University. You take a regular Pre-Calculus or Calculus I or II class, but you also enroll in a MathExcel Workshop.
The Workshop meets twice a week, two hours a day. It has a limit of 30 students. This Workshop is staffed by two Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). At each Workshop meeting, you will be given a set of Mathematics problems to work on. You work in groups of three or four students. The GTAs are there to help you, to guide you through these problem sets. However, the GTAs will not do the work for you. They will offer direction and maybe even some hints. Every few weeks, after assessing your progress, you will be reassigned to different groups to help you maximize your potential.
The MathExcel Workshop is a two credit hour course (even though it meets four hours a week). The grading for this course is S/U (satisfactory/unsatisfactory, also called pass/fail). Your grade is based upon your participation in the workshop. If you have outside activities which will cause you to miss meetings of the Workshop, DON'T sign up for this program. However, if you want to Excel in Mathematics, this may just be the right course for you!
See Registration to get the specific course information for enrolling.
