As the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, I have the privilege of associating with Auburn's most treasured resource--its students. As an Auburn student you will have the opportunity to have a world class education. Through associations with our dedicated faculty, our staff, and other students you will have ample opportunity to become a truly educated person. Our former students have had enormous success whether that be as an astronaut, a CEO, a health professional, or a scholar. Let me encourage you use the advising resources that are available at this site and in our office. If there is any way that I can make the Auburn experience better for you, do not hesitate to ask.

As the Assistant Dean for the Prehealth Professions, I am honored to be able to work with many of the most outstanding students on campus. My responsibilities include teaching, advising and working with students from all majors on campus who are applying to health professions programs in medical, dental, optometry, podiatry and physical therapy schools just to name a few of the many possibilities. Since most students who plan to pursue doctoral level health professions degrees enroll in the College of Sciences and Mathematics, the prehealth advising program is headquartered in the Dean's Office of COSAM.

I received my Ph.D. degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1968, and, over the past 30 years, I have advised prehealth students, taught in biology programs, and taught medical students in gross anatomy, embryology and histology for 15 years. During these years, I have been actively involved in regional and national advising associations. I have served as President of both the Western and Southeastern Associations of Advisors for the Health Professions and presently hold the position of President of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions. Also, I have served on numerous national committees associated with many of the health professions. We feel Auburn can offer you the best possible preparation for health professions schools, as well as a well rounded education, We are proud of the fact that more Auburn students are accepted to Alabama medical and dental schools than from any other college or university in the State of Alabama or from any other college or university in the country, In addition, many of our students attend other prestigious professional schools throughout the country. Presently, our graduates are attending medical and dental schools in about 25 states.
