Awards

Each Spring, the College of Sciences and Mathematics hosts an Awards Convocation to honor our most outstanding students.

  • Dean’s Medalists:  Students are chosen from each department who represent high achievement in each discipline.  Exemplary grades, meaningful research experiences, leadership, and professional activities are considered when choosing these, the most prestigious students of the college.

  • Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence:  Seniors who have retained a GPA of 4.00.

  • Outstanding Juniors:  Students are chosen from each department for their academic excellence and substantial professional growth.

  • Outstanding Sophomores:  Students with the highest GPA of the class.  Typically this is a 4.00.

  • Outstanding Freshmen:  Students with the highest GPA of the class.  Typically this is a 4.00.

  • SGA Award:  Each year a student is chosen for outstanding achievement by the Student Government Association for each school or college of the university.

  • President’s Award:  A student with both superior academic performance and involvement in extracurricular and service activities receives this award.

  • Comer Awards:  Each year one is given to the outstanding graduate in physical sciences and mathematics and another is given to the outstanding graduate in the life sciences.
