ScholarshipsCOSAM has a number of scholarships designated for our students. In order to be considered for a COSAM scholarship, you must complete the COSAM scholarship application. To be a recipient of a COSAM scholarship, you must be pursuing a major in the College of Sciences and Mathematics. COSAM scholarships are available to both entering freshmen and currently-enrolled students. ACT/SAT scores are the primary determinant in awarding freshman scholarships while the Auburn GPA is the primary determinant in awarding scholarships to currently-enrolled students. COSAM students receiving university-wide scholarships are not precluded from receiving a COSAM scholarship. Frequently Asked Scholarship Questions How can I be considered for a university-wide, freshman academic scholarship? Incoming freshman students who apply for admission with all admission materials postmarked by the December 1 Freshman Scholarship priority deadline receive automatic consideration for Freshman Scholarships. The application for admission serves as the application for consideration of these scholarships. A separate application is not required. Priority consideration is given to students with a minimum 28 ACT or 1240 SAT and a 3.25 high school GPA. To be considered for a COSAM scholarship you must be enrolled, or admitted for enrollment, in one of the academic programs in COSAM. Students desiring a scholarship must submit a completed scholarship application by January 15. Generally students need to hve an ACT of 28 to be considered for a COSAM scholarship. What other types of financial aid are available? Loans, grants and federal work study are also available. Do you have to demonstrate financial need to receive financial aid? No, there are many sources of financial aid that do not require financial need. These include Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, Parent Loans, and most scholarships. When should I expect to be notified if I have been selected to receive a scholarship? The Office of University Scholarships awards Spirit of Auburn Scholarships to Alabama residents October to December, Academic Scholarships to non-residents in December, and other Freshman Scholarships and General Scholarships February to March. Departmental Scholarships are awarded by May 1st.
