COSAM's Burton Receives Samford Award

COSAM student Ryan Burton was recently chosen as the recipient of the 2006 W. James Samford, Jr. Award.  The award is given to a junior with a minimum 3.0 GPA who demonstrates selfless leadership and serves as a positive role model.

"The most enduring facet of the award is becoming an integral part of the Samford Award family.  Ultimately, we see this group as being a diverse group of students, colleagues, and friends, who are committed to perpetuating Jimmy Samford's high standards of academic excellence, humanitarian service, genuine friendship, love of Auburn University, kind-hearted generosity and love of life," said Lucinda Samford Cannon, President of the Board of Trustees of the W. James Samford, Jr. Foundation.

Ryan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Burton of Prattville.  A pre-med biomedical sciences major, Ryan is the president of the War Eagle Girls and Plainsman, a member of the ODK Honor Society, and is on the Dean's List.

Ryan received a cash award and was honored at a celebration held in April.
