Math Tournament
The Auburn University College of Sciences and Mathematics and Sam Ginn College of Engineering cordially invite you and your students to participate in our inaugural Mathematics Tournament scheduled for Saturday, April 12th. For our inaugural year of hosting the AU Math Tournament, we plan to offer Comprehensive level only (9th – 12th grade can participate). All individuals will take a written exam of 30 comprehensive multiple choice questions, and the top eight students from each school based on the written exam scores will be invited to participate in one of two activities: 1) a team problem solving activity called the “School Bowl”, or 2) a ciphering quiz. It is up to the coach’s discretion on how to divide the team members between these two competitions (maximum of four students per competition). Students not involved in the School Bowl or the ciphering competition will participate in the interschool “Aubie Bowl”. Awards will be given in two Divisions: Division I – 6A public, all private and all magnet schools, and Division II – 1A through 5A public schools. An interschool competition called the “Aubie Bowl” will be offered as a separate competition. Each team will receive a single copy of the Aubie Bowl test at registration. The test will be due by 12:00 at the Registration table in the lobby of the Sciences Center Auditorium. The score of the Aubie Bowl will not be included in the overall team score. Trophies for the Aubie Bowl will be awarded to the top five teams in each division.
