Fall Y.E.S. 2008Do you have a child currently in 7th-9th grade that is interested in science and math? If so, Fall Y.E.S. is a great opportunity to let them explore the many wonders of science at Auburn University.
When: Saturday, October 4 Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Courses Offered: Geometric Games and Puzzles (morning and afternoon) Dr. Andras Bezdek (Auburn University) Math isn't only about numbers - math skills are found in puzzles and games, too. Participants will learn the mathematics behind some of the winning strategies of certain games. There will be also time to have hands-on experience with specially designed geometric building kits. CHAOS or CHemistry And Other Sciences (morning and afternoon) Gina Watkiss (The Heritage School) – NEW COURSE! Students will experience things that are delightfully slippery and slimy, things that bounce and twirl, things that are wormy and things that erupt. If you have experienced Miss Gina’s slimy chemistry before, get ready for all new experiments that cover the world of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology! Electronic Kit Building (all day course) Mike Smith (Auburn Jr. High School) Have you ever wondered how basic electronic devices, such as clocks, alarms, or timers function? Have you ever taken one of these devices apart to see the internal components? If so, you will have fun learning about the basic electronic components that drive many electrical devices. In this course, students will:
Race to the Sun (morning and afternoon) Erin Edmondson (Auburn University) – NEW COURSE! You have probably heard of green energy sources, but do you know what they are or how they might impact your future? Find out all about green energy as you explore solar power. Build your own solar car and race your fellow campers to the sun!
