Requirements:
• Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (500 MHz or faster)
• Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or later
• 512 MB of RAM or more
• DVD drive or connection to a local area network (if installing over a network)
• 1024 x 768 or higher-resolution monitor.
How to get the installation CD
To obtain Office 2208, you may either download the disk image (if within a COSAM Subnet, or you can request a CD be made for you: cosam-mac@auburn.edu
1. Download the Office 2008 disk image (550MB CD-R Master)
Note: You can only download the disk image if you have an IP address within a COSAM subnet.
2. Install Office 2008: Double-click the Microsoft_Office_2008.cdr file to mount it (if not already mounted).
Open the Office 2008 Setup Assistant, authenticate, and follow the steps. The Assistant lets you customize your Office installation, import user data, and remove previous versions of Office, if you want.
Note: You can only download the disk image if you have an IP address within a COSAM subnet.
3. Update Office 2008: Office 2008 should automatically update, but if not, use the Microsoft AutoUpdate application in your Applications folder, or download the updates manually in the left column. These updates must be installed in order.
4. Make a backup Installation CD: Open Disk Utility (from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app). Double-click the COSAM_Mac_Office_2008.cdr file, then select it in the sidebar in Disk Utility. Click the Burn icon in the toolbar. When the Burn Disc sheet appears, insert a blank disc and click Burn.
