H Drive Access

Download Drive Mapping instructions in PDF format.

These directions mirror those for Windows on the OIT site.

You can mount (map) your H drive using the Common Internet Filesystem (CIFS) from any Mac OS X computer on campus, or off-campus using the VPN client.

System Requirements
Mac OS X 10.2 or later
On-campus or VPN connection
These directions were developed using Mac OS X 10.3.7.

1. Choose Connect to Server from the Go menu in the Finder. In the Server Address field, enter the following URL:

Server Address : cifs://auprofile.duc.auburn.edu

Click Connect.

2. In the Authentication dialog box, supply the following information and click OK:

Workgroup/Domain: AUBURN or AUBURN.EDU
Username: your Auburn User ID
Password: same as for email

3. Click OK in the SMB Mount dialog box. Make sure that your name appears in the share point pop-up menu. For most cases, your home folder will be the only item in the pop-up menu.

4. Your H drive mounts on your desktop*. Or, you can find it in the computer window. When you’re finished, drag its icon to the Trash to eject it.

Notes

The following URLs for the Server Address should also work. You can also use smb:// in place of cifs:// for the protocol identifier.

cifs://ausamba.auburn.edu
cifs://ausamba (resolves to within auburn.edu if you’re using on-campus DNS servers)
cifs://auprofile.duc (resolves to within auburn.edu if you’re using on-campus DNS servers)

* The mount point is actually /Volumes.
