AU-CMB/CECST HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER/STUDENT SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM

Auburn University's Cellular & Molecular Biosciences (AU-CMB) Program and NSF EPSCoR-Center for Enviromental and Cellular Signal Transduction (CECST) is proud to announce the Teaching Enhancement Award (TEA) program, summer scholarship awards to Alabama High School Science Teacher/Student pairs.
The TEA Program was established to raise the level of enthusiasm of both high school students and their teachers for careers in science. This is done by inviting student-teacher pairs to Auburn University CECST laboratories and, with guidance from AU-CMB/CECST faculty, providing hands-on research experience during a residential three week period for students (July 11-30, 2010) and a residential one week for teachers (July 26-30, 2010). The program will expose teachers and students to experimental exercises that they can take back to the classroom.
Teachers will receive 4 CEU credits
Requiements:
1) Teacher and student must complete and submit the following on-line application at the bottom of this page and submit to cmb@auburn.edu.
2) Students must have two letters of recommendation sent to the AU-CMB office before the application (date to be announced). One letter must be from your teacher pair, and the other letter can be from another teacher or guidance counselor
Monetary awards for the the 3/1 week period will be:
Students: $700.00
Teachers: $500.00
Housing and food will be provided. It is mandatory that students and teachers reside in the AU-CMB provided housing. There will be a camp counselor to reside with the students.
Last Day celebration will include Teacher/Student pair presentations.
Deadline to receive all application documents is May 14th, 2010.
