Auburn’s Program is one of the top-rated training programs in the country.  We are consistently the top battalion in the 6th Brigade (out of 40 senior ROTC schools located in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida).  Our program is growing and we continually strive to be the top officer producing 4-year school in the Brigade.  In 2008 Auburn University Army ROTC was statistically ranked in the top 3 schools in the nation! 
           
Auburn University is ranked 45th among the nation’s top public universities (U.S. News and World Report Magazine, 2008).  This is the 16th consecutive year that Auburn has been ranked in the top 50 of public universities.  Additionally, our engineering program (ranked 28th) and our business school (ranked 30th) continue to receive top marks among public institutions in the nation. 

Although we train very hard and focus on leadership, we also strive to help every cadet achieve academic success while at Auburn University, because after all that is why you come to college.  We have a computer room at your disposal with AU internet access and also have Wi-Fi throughout the building. We have a very close-knit group of students that you can depend upon to help you with studies or any difficulties you may be experiencing.  Auburn takes pride in its “small town” atmosphere, and that “family” attitude permeates our program.  Additionally we teach time management and study skills to our freshmen, new cadets, and transfers so they can be successful in their academics.

There are also many financial benefits that will help the deserving cadets focus on school instead of having to work part-time and/or take out student loans.  These benefits include full tuition/fee scholarships, book reimbursements, and stipends that range from $300-$500 a month.  Many of our cadets also take advantage of other opportunities like the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) where the cadets also serve in the National Guard or Reserves (which not only adds to their leadership experience but also allows them to earn $265/month in drill pay and can give access to GI Bill benefits).

Our close proximity to Fort Benning, Georgia allows our cadets to take part in marksmanship training with the Army Marksmanship Unit, utilize Field Leadership Reaction Courses on post, make use of Bradley Fighting Vehicle and M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank Close Combat Tactical Trainers, and conduct land navigation exercises on the same course used by the Army Ranger Training Brigade!

Our on campus resources include a rappel tower, the James E. Martin Aquatic Center for Combat Water Survival Training, the Auburn University Challenge Course (featuring high and low rope obstacles), and land navigation and terrain association at Tuskegee National Forest (just 20 minutes away).  Besides our training resources we also have a cadet day room in the Nichols Center (the ROTC building) which contains personal mail boxes for all cadets, couches to relax on between classes, and a flat screen TV to enjoy anytime. 

Our leadership program is the model for many of the world’s best leadership programs.  You may recognize some previous Auburn Army ROTC alumni including: Jim Voss (one of six Astronauts from Auburn University, who spent 4 months in space in 2001), Kevin Greene (former NFL football player and NFL announcer), and Ruthie Bolton-Holifield (WNBA player and 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist).  Auburn ROTC has also produced numerous general officers including Lieutenant General Ronald L. Burgess, Jr., USA is the 17th Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
