Sergeant First Class Joe Wommack
Military Science Instructor Level III Training NCO

SFC Joe Wommack is a native of Garland, Texas and enlisted as a Cavalry Scout in July 1993. SFC Wommack’s assignments include 2/1 Cav, 2nd Armored, Ft Hood, Tx - 3/4 Cav, 25th Infantry, Hawaii - 1/10 Cav, 4th Infantry, Ft Hood, Tx - Recon, 1st BCT, 4th Infantry, Ft Hood, Tx - 1/72 Armor, 2nd Infantry, Korea - SOMC, JFKSWC, Ft Bragg, Nc - G Trp, 10th Cav, 4th Infantry, Ft Hood, Tx - 5/15 Cav, 1st ATB, Ft Knox, Ky - 3/73 Cav, 82nd Airborne, Ft Bragg, Nc.


SFC Wommack has served as CFV dismount Scout Team Leader, CFV Gunner, Team Leader, Section Leader, Troop Operations Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Leader, Squadron Assistant Operations Sergeant, and Squadron Air Officer. He is currently serving as MS III Instructor here at Auburn University.


Operational experience includes: Operation Iraqi Freedom I / V, Operation Enduring Freedom I / IV


His awards include Bronze Star with V device, Bronze Star(1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with V device, Army Commendation Medal(8 OLC) , Army Achievement Medal(5 OLC), Good Conduct Medal(5th Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal(2nd Award), Korean Defense Service Medal, and Humanitarian Service Medal.


SFC Wommack’s training includes Primary Leadership Development Course(PLDC), Basic Noncommisioned Officers Course(BNCOC), Advanced Noncommisioned Officers Course, Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinder, Combat Lifesaver, Master Fitness Instructor, and Combatives Level I / II.


He lives in Opelika with his wife Ashley and labrador puppy named Betty
