Master Sergeant Ronald Wheeler MSG Ronald D. Wheeler is a native of Pekin, Illinois and enlisted in the active Army as an Armor Crewman in February of 1984, completing One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox KY. MSG Wheeler’s assignments include: C & HQ Companies, 1-13 Armor Battalion, 1 st Armored Division, Illesheim Germany. A Company, 3-69 Armor Battalion, 24 th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart Georgia. D Company, 4-32 Armor Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, Butzbach Germany. D & HQ Companies, 2-67 Armor Battalion, 3 rd Armored Division, Freidberg Germany. D Company, 1-68 Armor Battalion, 4 th Infantry Division, Fort Carson Colorado. HHT, 4-7 Cavalry, 2 nd Infantry Division, Camp Garry Owen Korea. C & HQ Companies, 3-67 Armor Battalion, 4 th Infantry Division, Fort Hood Texas. V Corps HQ, Fort Hood Texas. 155 th Armor Brigade, Tupelo Mississippi. C & HQ Companies, 1-35 Armor Battalion, 1 st Armored Division, Baumholder Germany. MSG Wheeler has served in the following duty positions: Tank Driver/Loader, Tank Gunner, Tank Commander, Platoon Sergeant, Company Master Gunner, Battalion Master Gunner, Squadron Master Gunner, Brigade Master Gunner, Corps Master Gunner, Tank and HQ Companies First Sergeant, Security and Intelligence Noncommissioned Officer and Operations Sergeant Major. MSG Wheeler is currently serving as the Senior Military Science Instructor at Auburn University. MSG Wheeler’s military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (BNCOC), Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Defense Course, Small Arms Maintenance Course, M1A1/M1A2 Master Gunner School, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course (ANCOC) and the First Sergeant’s Course. He has also completed one year of college towards an Associates Degree in General Studies with the University of Maryland. Operational experience includes: Operation Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Intrinsic Action, Operation Iraqi Freedom I. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1-OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2-OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4-OLC), Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal (2-OLC), Good Conduct Medal (7 th Award), 2 National Defense Service Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Defense Medal with 3 Campaign Stars, Saudi Arabia Liberation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Gulf War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal and the Gulf War on Terrorism Service Medal. MSG Wheeler currently resides in Auburn with his lovely wife Cheryl. |
