Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Scott Copeland
Professor of Military Science

Lieutenant Colonel Scott Copeland was a Distinguished Military Graduate of The Citadel and commissioned a second lieutenant of Field Artillery in 1991. He also holds a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University. He served as a targeting officer and firing platoon leader in the 2d Infantry Division, Republic of Korea. He served as the Deputy G3 of the Field Artillery Center, Fort Sill Oklahoma. While assigned to the 3d Brigade, 3d Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Georgia, he served as an Infantry battalion fire support officer, fires battalion assistant operations officer and logistics officer, firing battery commander and Infantry brigade headquarters company commander. He was selected as an Army National Guard brigade fire support trainer, stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He also served as an Armor brigade fire support officer in the 2d Infantry Division, Republic of Korea. He served as the 3d Infantry Division Effects Coordinator and a fires battalion operations and executive officer in the 2d Brigade Combat Team, at Fort Stewart, Georgia. His previous assignment was the Forces Command Field Artillery Force Integrator at Fort MacPherson, Georgia.
    

Lieutenant Colonel Copeland’s military education includes Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Command and Senior Staff School, Command and General Staff College, the Joint Firepower Control Course and the Joint Planning Course. He served two combat tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), the Air Force Achievement Medal, Basic Parachutist, and Ranger Tab.
