Deadlines and Scheduling

The University Committee meets every two weeks during the academic year. During the summer, the committee is only convened to consider changes that are prompted by accreditation issues or to clear any excessive backlog.

Every attempt is made to schedule courses and degree program changes in the order received. Priority is given to changes that affect curriculum models. Departments proposing complex changes in curricula should contact the Chair of the University Curriculum Committee for help if questions arise during the preparation of the requests.

Given the high volume of changes received at certain peak times, departments may expect the following delays:

Undergraduate and Professional Curricular Revisions and Course Proposals

  • New courses, course revisions and revised curricular models submitted between April 1 and October 1 normally will be available for use at the beginning of Spring Semester and will appear in the following academic year Bulletin.

  • New courses, course revisions and revised curricular models submitted between October 1 and April 1 normally will be available for use the beginning of Fall Semester but will NOT appear in the following academic year Bulletin.

Graduate Courses

  • The Graduate Council considers curriculum revisions and course proposals monthly.  Departments submitting graduate changes should take into account that this procedure may add as much as two-months to the approval process, depending upon the number of changes and the date of receipt in determining the reasonable time of approval.
