WHAT IS UNIV 1000: THE AUBURN EXPERIENCE?

UNIV 1000: The Auburn Experience is a one-hour, letter graded course offered to help first year students make a successful transition to college life. "The Auburn Experience" provides both an introduction to Auburn University and a general orientation to the functions, support services, and resources of the university as a whole. UNIV 1000 is offered to freshman students only, with the exception of one section each semester offered to transfer students.

The Objectives of the Course are:

1. to serve as a general introduction to the University and its resources;

2. to investigate the history and traditions of Auburn University and to demonstrate awareness of the organizational structure of Auburn University's administration

3. to examine career interests, academic advisement and the role of academic advisors;

4. to acquaint the student with the academic policies and procedures of Auburn University;

5. to educate the student in the function and availability of the various student services and academic resources offered by the university;

6. to promote the total development of the student;

ARE THERE ANY COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR UNIV 1000?

The course requirements necessary for successful completion of UNIV 1000. The Auburn Experience may include the following:

      • Assigned readings

      • Individual/group project

      • Written assignments

      • Class participation

      • Lab projects

      • Tests/Quizzes
