"Everything I have done in college links back some way to being in a Learning Community. It's one of the best decisions I've made."

Auburn's Learning Communities offer Two Choices for Like-Minded Learning!
In partnership with AU's schools and colleges, the Office of Undergraduate Studies and Academic Support are pleased to sponsor Learning Communities at Auburn. These special interest groups provide students with an automatic population of classmates, friends, and study partners.
What is a Learning Community?
These Freshmen Interest Groups are non-residential communities available to first-year students. Students in the same college, school, or discipline who join are co-registered for certain classes required for their major. The participating schools and colleges include: Liberal Arts, Education, Business, Human Sciences, Agriculture, Nursing, and Forestry and Wildlife Sciences.
What is a Living- Learning Community?
Students in the College of Liberal Arts, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, the College of Sciences and Mathematics, and the College of Architecture, Design, and Construction who have also been accepted to live in on-campus housing are eligible to participate in the Living-Learning Communities. These residential communities provide the opportunity for groups of first-year students to live in the same residence hall and to co-register for certain classes required for their major. Currently, Living-Learning Community students are housed in a Quad community residence hall that is co-ed by floor. Students must have guaranteed housing to be accepted into a LLC.
Why should I participate in a Learning Community or
Living-Learning Community?
The benefits of participating in a Learning Community include immediately meeting other students with common interests who will be facing similar academic demands, knowing students in class to study with, getting to know a faculty member or administrator in your college, and getting connected to your college. All of these benefits can lead to a successful transition to college.
