The Faculty in Residence Program is designed to create an academic atmosphere in the Village Residence Halls on Auburn University’s campus. These faculty members collaborate with Housing and Residence Life staff to create opportunities for students that connect their in and out of class experiences.
Through interaction with faculty outside of the classroom, students achieve increases in levels of altruism, interest in career exploration, cognitive abilities, and satisfaction with their college experience (Astin, 1985; Golde, 2000; Pascarella & Terenzini, 199).
Faculty can gain the opportunity to get to know students better, participate in innovative education, improve teaching, and collaborate with faculty outside of their discipline (Golde, 2000).
