Benefits

  • Great Professors

The professors in Learning Communities have a special interest or passion with this program. They want their students to succeed and take the extra step to get to know them while ensuring they understand the material being taught in their classes.

  • Close-Knit Group

Learning Communities allow students to develop camaraderie not found in other groups. Through classes and optional social events, students form friendships easily.

  • Pre-Registered for Classes

Learning Community students have class space saved specifically for them. When registering for classes, LC students do not have to enroll in their LC classes because the University has already done so.

  • Study Sessions

Study sessions are easier to form through the Learning Community because students are already familiar with their peers. Also, the Learning Community Activities Board (LCAB) provides LC students with classrooms for optional study sessions before major tests.

  • Develop Relationships with Professors

Learning Community students develop relationships with their professors because of the hands-on environment. Professors take interest in their students and will work with them in order to ensure success.

  • Focused Around Major or Interest

Auburn University provides Learning Communities for every college and school on campus, as well as specific interests. Check out the 2009 Learning Community tab to see which Learning Community is for you!

  • Peer Instructors

Peer Instructors are Learning Community alums who earned an A in the UNIV course. These students sit in with the current LC students in their UNIV course. They provide student insight and act as a liaison between the professor and students. For more information on Peer Instructors, visit the Peer Instructors/LCAB tab!

  • Learning Communities Activities Board

An organization founded by Learning Community students for Learning Community students. LCAB was developed in order to provide a social side for Learning Communities. They offer optional socials, study sessions, volunteer work, intramurals, and much, much more for Learning Community students! For more information visit the Peer Instructors/LCAB tab!

  • FREE

There is no fee for joining a Learning Community! All of these great benefits are offered free of charge!
