Liberal Arts General Learning Community

The Liberal Arts Learning Community is a group of students in the College of Liberal Arts. All incoming freshmen in the College of Liberal Arts are eligible to participate. Through participation in this community, students will explore majors and meet other students and faculty in the College of Liberal Arts.  The students in the cohort will take UNIV 1050: Success Strategies, English 1100: English Composition I, and History 1010: World History I in the Fall.  In the Spring, the cohort will take COUN 2970: Special Topics in College Student Development, English 1120: English Composition II, and History 1020: World History II.  Students in this Learning Community finish their freshman year with clearer academic goals and as a result, "find their place" at Auburn.


Liberal Arts The Art of Civic Engagement Learning Community

The Art of Civic Engagement Learning Community, sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts, is a unique opportunity to make a difference in your new community at Auburn and learn bilingual language skills through the visual arts.  The Learning Community will include 25 students who share an interest in civic engagement, language, and art. All incoming freshmen are eligible to participate. The community will take several classes together including UNIV 1050: Success Strategies, English 1100: English Composition I, and Spanish 1010: Elementary Spanish in the Fall and UNIV 1100: The Art of Civic Engagement, English 1120: English Composition II, and Psychology 2120: Developmental Psychology in the Spring.  Additionally, the group will explore the use of art to mentor local children.

 

Liberal Arts and the Public Good Living-Learning Community

The Liberal Arts and the Public Good Living-Learning Community is a group of students in the College of Liberal Arts. All incoming freshmen in the College of Liberal Arts who have been guaranteed housing are eligible to participate. The community will live together in Lane Hall on the Lower Quad and take several classes together that will explore how liberal arts disciplines impact society and enrich the human experience.  You will take UNIV 1050: Success Strategies, English 1100: English Composition I, and History 1010: World History I in the Fall.  In the Spring, the cohort will take UNIV 1100: Liberal Arts and the Public Good, English 1120: English Composition II, and History 1020: World History II.  This is a unique opportunity to not only get to know other students but also faculty members in the College of Liberal Arts and to create your own activities in your residence hall.  If you are looking for a way to immediately get connected on campus this could be it!  Students must be guaranteed housing to be eligible to participate.
