Can I still be in a Learning Community if I have AP or dual enrollment credit for some of the classes? Yes! Our policy is that in order to participate in a Learning Community, students must stay enrolled in the University class and at least one of the other classes with the Learning Community. If you have credit for more than one of the classes, check out some of the other Learning Communities to find one you are eligible for. How much does it cost to be in a Learning Community? It’s absolutely free! What if I want to live with my Learning Community but I already have a room mate picked out? No problem! When you choose to live with your Learning Community you can bring your room mate with you to that residence hall as long as space is available. What if I change majors? Will I get kicked out of my Learning Community? No. Classes the you take with your Learning Community are core classes that you can take with you to other majors if you choose to change. You are encouraged to stay with your Learning Community throughout the entirety of your freshman year whether you stay in the same major or not. What if I plan to be in the Honors College? Can I still be in a Learning Community? Yes. Honors students must take honors classes in order to obtain their Junior Honors Certificate. If you participate in a Learning Community, you would simply choose alternative honors courses in place of the non-honors classes you will take with your Learning Community. You are encouraged to speak with the Honors College about your options to determine what is best for you. |
