Polymer and Fiber Engineering/ Fiber Option

Effective fall, 2006, the Department of Polymer and Fiber Engineering administers one major with two options. The curriculum is designed to produce well-educated engineers who are prepared to work as professionals in a variety of industries during this era of rapid and challenging technological development.

The goal of the professional portion of each option is to emphasize basic areas of study while providing the flexibility to accommodate a diversity of interests and talents. To this end, each curriculum emphasizes hands-on laboratory experience, knowledgeable use of computers, oral and written communication skills, the importance of business, economic, social and global forces on engineering and industry, and the maintenance of professional competence through continued self-improvement after graduation.
