Accounting is often called the "language of business." While accountants must be thoroughly grounded in the fundamentals of accounting, more importantly they must have a strong technology base as well as interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Accountants must be problem solvers, helping their clients or employers find creative solutions to complex business problems. Accounting majors have a wide variety of career options. In fact, accounting is known as the one degree that offers 360 degrees of opportunities. Accounting majors go on to successful careers in public accounting, business and industry, governmental accounting, education, as well as other entrepreneurial opportunities.
