April 17th SOS

Our last SOS session, on April 17th, was a beautiful day for orientation. With not a drop of rain in forecast for the day, everyone’s spirits were exceptionally high for our morning meeting. The day’s schedule consisted of check-in and breakfast in the morning, followed by our War Eagle Welcome (WEW). During WEW we had guest speaker Dr. McDaniels, who filled everyone in on some Auburn history and traditions. We then split into our Small Group Sessions, where many of our Orientation Leaders and students were able to enjoy the gorgeous day outside. The day then continued on with the rotation of Learning for Life, our diversity presentation, and a presentation on Tigeri, Auburn’s online student information website.  Meanwhile, parents and guests were at Tiger Talk learning about Auburn University’s Medical Clinic, Financial Aid and Parking.

The next stop of the day was lunch! The parent and guest program enjoyed their lunch inside the new Student Center Ballroom, while students enjoyed lunch from a local favorite, Barbeque House, in either the Foy Ballroom, or outside on Cater Lawn. After lunch, both parents and students were dismissed to their second Small Group Session of the day. Next was a tour of campus and then advising!

Overall the day went very well! We could not have asked for better weather, and everyone – students, parents, and Orientation Leaders – seemed to enjoy their day!
