What to expect at SOS

Many of you may be asking yourselves “Why do I have to go to SOS?” Even though many of you already have a year or more of college life under your belt, Auburn University is different from the school you are transferring from. Auburn has different policies, different organizations, different classes, and most likely a different system for registering for classes. Not only is it important to come to SOS to learn about these many differences, but SOS is fun! You will meet with your Orientation Leader, and be placed in a group with other students who will be in your college, and possibly some of your classes. SOS is a great way to get started meeting new people and also learning many other ways to get involved and be successful on Auburn’s campus.

On the day of an SOS session, students, parents and guests will receive a lot of useful information. When you first arrive at SOS, you will be given a Tiger Transitions. The Tiger Transitions is a book of information including:
*The Auburn University Medical Clinic and their services offered
*Tuition and how to pay your tuition using E-Bill
*Dining options on campus
*Getting your student ID and the Tiger Club account associated with your ID
*Housing and living expenses
*Parking and the Tiger Transit
*How to get your athletic tickets
*Information on campus recreation and the many other ways to get involved on campus

Throughout the session you will also learn about:
*Our Office of Information Technology (OIT)
*Services for students with disabilities
* The Tiger Cub along with Auburn University’s policies and bylaws
*How to register for classes and how to drop classes
*Changing your major
* Academic Support Services

Throughout the course of the day you will receive this information in a variety of ways, including, a small group session with your Orientation Leader as well as breakout sessions called Concurrent Sessions. Concurrent Sessions generally focus on one or two main areas of interest, making sure that everyone learns as much about that area as possible.

We look forward to seeing you at SOS!
