The OLs’ eight week training came to an end on Tuesday, March 2. It seems like yesterday we were at Callouts and excited about the new year of Orientation Leaders. Where does the time go?!
At this particular training, the Orientation Leaders took their last Auburn Knowledge test and were prepared for their first SOS Session on Friday, March 5. The SOS Staff decided that the best way to prepare the OLs was to actually show them what a SOS session will be like. The OLCs and Staff took the OLs on a “SOS Walk Through”, where the OLs were presented with important information and locations of: check-in, War Eagle Welcome, Concurrent session rooms, and Tiger-I and Learning for Life presentations. They got the opportunity to ask questions and experience some of the key points of the session. A former OL, came and presented “AU Trivia” to the group. He showed the OLs how to run the concurrent session /game show and to have fun with it too.
We wrapped up the training with an icebreaker, the “blanket game”. The OLs were divided up into two teams. One OL from each team came up to the blanket; when the blanket dropped the first OL to say the other’s name won that round. We played until we had an ultimate winner. The OLs really enjoyed the game and learned some names!
The OLCs then took last minute questions for the upcoming session and presented the “OL Notes”. We ended with an enthusiastic Auburn Fight Song! The OLCs and OLs have worked extremely hard over the past eight weeks; they were definitely ready for their first session on Friday! War Eagle!
