This week in Camp War Eagle Counselor training I did a presentation on the first creed stanza, “I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn, therefore I believe in work, HARD WORK.” I showed a video of the Boston University vs. Miami of Ohio Collegiate Hockey National Championship (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bGpREk4Cw4).

This video displays heart, determination, and most of all HARD WORK, check it out if you are a sports fan. This game relates to the creed in a couple of ways.

1. Never give up

2. You are not entitled to win or earn anything just because you are the #1 ranked team, or the #1 student on campus, or any prior position you have held.

3. and most importantly, HARD WORK pays off. Dan Gable, a famous American Olympian once said, “To be the best you have to outwork the best, there is no substitute for hard work.”

I take this to heart everyday, because I may not be the smartest, or the fastest, or the most organized, but I pride my self in my work ethic. If there is anything that comes down to who can work the hardest I promise I will win because HARD WORK is the key to success, no excuses.
