Tiger i Questions
  1. How do I know when I register?
    To find out when you register, log in to AU Access, and in the tiger i tab, you should see a link that says "Check Your Registration Status." This will tell you the day and time when you can start registering.

  2. How do I get to the registration site?

    2. 2. Click the orange Tiger i Tab at the top of the page.
    3. 3. Click "Add or Drop Classes" under the "Registration" drop down section.

  3. What do I do if it says there is a hold?
    Be sure that all holds have been cleared from your records. Hold information can be found by contacting the Registrar’s Office, the Student Financial Services Office or the Medical Clinic. These are the three most common offices that attach holds to student records. If you are unsure as to the proper office to contact regarding a hold that has been placed on your record, please contact the Registrar's Office. The following chart gives contact information for departments that may have a hold on your account.

  5. What is a CRN?
    CRN number is the five digit number next to the class subject. This five digit number is the number that you will need to know and type into the boxes at the bottom of the page when you register.

  6. What is an alternate pin?
    The first time you come to Auburn, you are required to meet with your academic advisor prior to registering for classes. Your advisor will put a special “alternate” PIN on your record to prevent you from registering. Once you have met with your advisor, he or she will change your alternate PIN and inform you of this number. After entering that number, you will be able to register for classes. If it does not, you need to contact your college or department advising office to get it fixed. Some colleges also use this same procedure each semester if you have required advising.

  7. How do I go about actually making my schedule for next semester on tiger i?
    To figure out which classes you want to take and what the days, times, and CRNs are for them, log into AU Access and click on the tiger i tab. Look at the registration menu and click the link entitled "Look Up Classes."You can search for your class by subject and use this list to build your schedule. When it's time to make your schedule, go to "Add or Drop Classes," select the term, and enter in the CRN numbers for the courses you want to take.You MAY be asked to type in an alternate number, and your advisor will give you this when you go to see them (this is just one of the reasons why it's so important to see you advisor before you register!)


  8. Should I meet with my advisor before I register?
    YES! For certain colleges it is required, but it is not required for all colleges. However, if it is not required for your college, it is still a good idea to go by and talk with your advisor about what classes to take for next semester, how many hours you should take, and to make sure you are on the right track for your major. As a part of the SOS schedule, you will meet with your Academic Advisor. It is not necessary to schedule an appointment before you attend SOS.

  9. What if I start registering and the class I wanted is closed?
    If this happens, there are a couple of different things you can do. First, you can do a class search for the same course offered at a different time. This may take some rearranging of your schedule, but you will most likely be able to work it out. If there are no other sections of the course that are open for you to take, remember that there are other classes that you can put into your schedule, such as core classes or elective classes. It might be a good idea to have some of these backup classes written down with their day, time, and CRN; this way if you do run into a little conflict when you're registering, you can easily select another class to put into your schedule.If you don't get your perfect schedule, remember that you can continue adding and dropping classes on tiger i through the first week of classes during the spring semester.

  10. How do I know if the class I am trying to enroll in requires a pre-requisite?
    Go online to www.auburn.edu. Select the “Students” tab. Under the “Academic Success” heading select “Academic Advising”. Then select your specific college or school. From your college or school page there should be a link to undergraduate programs of study or curriculum sheets. Select this to view what pre-requisites are required for various courses. If you have trouble navigating through the websites, you can also make an appointment with or contact your Academic Advisor.


  11. Do I have to sign up for a separate lab with my science lecture?
    Yes, depending on the class you may have to sign up for a separate lab, which will have its own CRN.  Biology classes require you to sign up for a lecture and a lab simultaneously (for example, you have to take both BIOL 1000 and BIOL 1001 in the same semester). When registering for the lab & lecture, you will have to do this simultaneously or else you will get an error. Chemistry classes also have separate numbers for the lecture portion and the lab portion of the class, so make sure to sign up for both (for example, if you were taking Fundamentals of Chemistry I, you'd need to sign up for both CHEM 1030 and CHEM 1031). It is not necessary to enter these CRNs simultaneously.  If you're signing up for a physics class, keep in mind that when you enter a CRN number into the computer, you're signing up for both portions (lecture and lab).

  12. “It looks like my Calculus class only meets one time a week.”
    Be sure to recognize that a class that gives you 4 credit hours, specifically math classes such as calculus and business calculus meet 4 times a week. The common misconception is that the class only meets one time a week. For example, a class may meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 to 10:50, but also on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:20. Be sure to recognize that there could be a day of class that is scheduled for a different time.

  13. Can you drop a class if you are only registered for 12 credit hours? What effects does not having the required 12 credit hours for "full-time student" enrollment entail?
    For most grants and scholarships, full time enrollment (12 semester hours) is required. For most loans, half-time enrollment (6 hours for undergraduates, 5 hours for graduates) is required. If you resign or drop below full time status, you may have to repay all or part of your loans and/or grants. Contact the AU Financial Aid Office before you decide to drop a class or resign completely. It should also be noted that to remain on target to graduate in four years, you will likely need to complete a minimum of 15 hours per semester. Some scholarships may be limited to four years.
