Parent Program

Overview

The Camp War Eagle Parent Program runs concurrently to the student orientation.  During the program, parents will have the opportunity to participate in many activities to familiarize themselves with Auburn's campus and services.  Some of these activities include: information sessions about campus services, a presentation by current Auburn parents, interaction with faculty and staff, and academic advising sessions with the students.

The parents will be assisted through the orientation program by Parent Counselors.  The Parent Counselors are a dedicated group of Auburn students who are chosen through a selection process in early Spring and receive extensive training so that they will be best prepared to assist parents by providing important information about campus services and a wealth of knowledge about Auburn's beautiful campus and its vibrant history.  Meet the 2012 Parent Counselors!

General Information
Cost:

The fee for the parent program of CWE is $75 per parent.  This fee will be billed to your student's account through the Student Financial Services office (the same bill as tuition and other student fees).  Please note that all Camp War Eagle fees, including those for registered parents and/or guests, are assessed at the time of camp registration and are NOT REFUNDABLE.

Lodging:

Lodging is not provided for parents/guests.  There are several hotels in the Auburn/Opelika area to accommodate CWE parents and guests.  The Auburn-Opelika Convention and Visitors Bureau has developed a website specifically for Camp War Eagle Parents to assist in finding hotel accommodations and to provide general travel information about the area.  All students will stay in residence halls on campus and may not stay with their parents.

Meals:

Parents will be provided a light reception on the first afternoon and dinner on the first evening and lunch on the second day.

What to bring:

  • Comfortable shoes for walking

  • Rain jacket or umbrella (just in case!)

  • Sweater or jacket, as some meeting rooms can get cold

I've registered, what's next?

After your son or daughter registers for CWE, an e-mail confirmation will be sent and a confirmation letter will be sent shortly after.  The confirmation letter will contain important materials including a parking pass, map, hotels brochure, instructions for the math placement test, and other essential information.  If you have not received this letter within two weeks of registering for Camp War Eagle, please contact our office.

To avoid any potential difficulty for your student, please ensure that he/she completes the math placement test. Students who fail to take the test will be placed in a non-credit math class. The test is available online at http://www.auburn.edu/~smith01/mathexam/.

The Auburn University Medical Clinic requires all students to turn in a Medical Information Form prior to attending Auburn.  This form was included with your child's letter of acceptance from the Office of Admissions and Records.  If you need a new form, another one may be downloaded here.  If the form is not completed by the time your child attend Camp War Eagle, he/she will sign a Letter of Understanding which states that the form will be submitted within 30 days or his/her class schedule will be dropped.

If your child will require special accommodations, please contact the Program for Students with Disabilities at (334)844-2096 or visit their website.  Click on "Prospective Students" to find the application for services.  Also be sure to visit their informational session while at CWE.  Also, you are encouraged to visit their office at 1244 Haley Center during your visit to Auburn.

Before your child comes to Camp War Eagle, please be sure that you are both familiar with the checkout process for the Friday/Tuesday morning.  It will be to your child's advantage to understand the process ahead of time to avoid confusion and possible delays in arriving to your advising and registration location on time.  This is especially important if you will be dropping off your child for Camp and picking them up on the third day.
