Professors are an essential part of Auburn’s Supplemental Instruction (SI) program as we work together to improve student performance. Our program relies on support from instructors and we are happy to take requests for SI instructors for particular courses.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a program that involves twice weekly sessions led by undergraduate students who have done well in the class before and have strong professor recommendations.
The goal of SI is to guide discussions on difficult concepts, work practice problems, and create an interactive learning environment. The SI is intended to be more approachable and create a more relaxed setting than a large lecture hall. The goal is not to reteach the material of the lecture. Though students who attend SI have statistically higher GPAs when compared to non-attenders, the true purpose is to teach students study strategies that they can apply in future courses.
We are always looking for more leaders. If you have any students you would like to recommend for Supplemental Instruction feel free to contact us.
If you have further questions about the SI program, please email the Program Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
