PARENT and FAMILY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. “When can my student move into the dorms for fall semester?”

https://fp.auburn.edu/housing.
Q. “We need proof of our child’s attendance for insurance purposes. How can we get that?”
A. The Office of the Registrar can provide you with the proper paperwork necessary to provide proof of attendance. You can contact the Registrar’s Office at (334) 844-4770 or http://www.auburn.edu/student_info/student_affairs/registrar/
Q. “We are going to buy our daughter a computer for her freshmen year. What types of programs should we purchase?”
A. Deciding on software programs for college is a more or less a personal decision. Auburn has several computer labs available for student use, all of which have either Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Exp lorer, McAfee Virus Protection, and Microsoft Office programs.
If your student is required to have a specific program, the best suggestion is to check with their advisor in the college or school they are registered in. An important thing to remember is that software is subject to constant r evision, and purchasing specific software programs before a student may need them may result in having to purchase upgrades or new software. The AU Bookstore offers student discounts on computer software, for more information go to: http://www.aubookstore.com/.
Q. “My son is registered for three hours next semester and everything he tries to register for is full. What can he do without taking unnecessary courses?”
A. Depending on a student’s major, all students should have met with their academic advisor to discuss what courses they need for the upcoming semesters prior to registration. Based on the meeting with their advisors, they should have assembled a number of course options to register for. Encountering courses that are full is commonly associated with registration, which is why it is important for students to be prepared to register, prioritizing the classes they want to tak e, listing alternative courses they may take and registering at the right time. It is the student’s responsibility to meet with their advisor prior to registration, not after.
If a student cannot register for a course they need, it is suggested that they wait for the drop and add period at the beginning of the next semester. Students should attend the course they want to be added to on the first day a nd indicate that they would like to be added after the instructor has gone over the class roster.

Q. “My daughter has three final exams on the same day. Can she get one of them moved?”
