About the Series

Beginning fall 2017, Auburn University will welcome distinguished scholars, journalists, and thought leaders to campus as part of the “Critical Conversations” speaker series to share diverse perspectives and ideologies on topics such as inclusion, intellectual diversity, and free speech in higher education.

The campus community is invited to participate in these events and is encouraged to continue the dialogue.

Before and after each event, look for opportunities to engage classmates and colleagues in discussions about these topics. Whether your participation is in the classroom, on the concourse, or online via one of our social media accounts, we encourage you to work intentionally toward broadening your perspective and embracing new ideas.

Check back for updates on the Critical Conversations Toolkit, which will provide discussion prompts and tips for how to engage in respectful conversations about challenging topics. Be sure to enter the drawing for each event to win a gift card to Starbucks, and then join us online to share conversations you’ve had with your peers over coffee.

Auburn University is committed to fostering an environment that is equitable, diverse, and inclusive. Your perspective is vital to attaining this goal, and your participation in this dialogue is valued.
