Internships & Service Learning

The Auburn University Women’s Resource Center (WRC) Internship Program is an opportunity for students to gain on-site experience with program development that supports individual and organizational growth and development and collaborate with other campus units to foster a campus environment that nourishes a culturally diverse community. Students may complete an internship, based on the criteria within their major or complete service learning/practicum hours for academic credit. Possible internships include:

  • Marketing and Communications Intern (2 positions)
  • Diversity and Advocacy Programs Intern/Service Learning (4 positions)

INTERNSHIP/SERVICE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES

Diversity and Advocacy Program Events Intern

These interns/service learning students assist in the planning and implementation of all diversity and advocacy events hosted by the WRC. Learning opportunities include: creating a vision for each activity hosted by the WRC, assisting in the execution of WRC hosted events, identifying and collaborating with potential partner organizations, volunteer coordination, and working with the WRC Advisory Board and Student Advisory Board.

Marketing and Communications Intern

These interns provide the WRC with key marketing materials for events and campaigns on campus. They should possess creative, marketing-oriented skills and will be responsible for updating and developing content on the website, reviewing and editing the WRC newsletter, assisting in the promotion of WRC events, and maintaining social networks. In addition, this intern will be required to attend and cover WRC events.  Those who have skills working with Photoshop, digital photography, social networking, and web maintenance (Dreamweaver and InDesign) are preferred. 

INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS

  • Internships must be planned and established at least one month prior to the beginning of the semester during which you will earn credit.
  • Applicants should be highly organized, detail oriented, reliable, responsible and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • All interns are expected to attend Women’s Resource Center events.
  • Women’s Resource Center Internships hours may not be concurrently used for additional credit under a different course number/in a different department.
