The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) at Auburn University is currently accepting applications for an Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Research. The position is anticipated to be a full-time, 12 month position.  The person will serve as the liaison between the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Provost Office, and the University’s colleges/schools, Auburn University Montgomery, Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station and Alabama Cooperative Extension System, for research, scholarship (including the scholarship of teaching and outreach), and other sponsored program development.

The appointment is anticipated to begin in October 2013. Responsibilities include but are not limited to identifying, facilitating, promoting and developing sponsorship for cross-disciplinary research initiatives; and coordinating activities among the associate deans for research, Faculty Research Committee, Research Compliance and related committees, and other appropriate University and Senate committees, the University Research Council, and similar entities such as research task forces/councils/committees associated with implementing the strategic research goals of Auburn University. The individual will occasionally represent the Vice President for Research in certain external roles in the state and national arena.
Required qualifications: Terminal Degree, status as a current AU faculty member at the rank of tenured full professor, and a record of research and scholarly achievement commensurate with the faculty rank. A demonstrated history of attracting and securing external financial sponsorship from the public and/or private sectors.  Possess excellent organizational, administrative, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

Selection Procedures: The Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Research is an internal appointment. A search committee will evaluate applications for the position and make recommendations to the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, who, in consultation with the Provost, will make the final appointment.
