The Academic Advising team

Camp War Eagle Advising

Academic advising with your college will occur between May 17 and June 25. Your academic advising team is looking forward to meeting you and helping you prepare to register for your fall schedule. College advising plans will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime, below are steps to prepare for advising.

How to prepare for Academic Advising

Confirm Your Major and College

This information is located in your Academic Profile in AU Access. If you need to change your major, log into the admission portal to submit your major change request.

Check your Auburn email daily

Updates from your advisor, First Year Experience, and other departments on campus will be sent to your Auburn email address. If you have not set up your Auburn email on your phone, you can find instructions here.

Check eligibility for ALEKS Math Placement test

We do not recommend waiting for your advising appointment to take the test. More information about ALEKS can be found at aub.ie/mathplacement.

You are advised to take the math placement test if...

  • You have not taken the ACT or SAT and would like to take a higher math than MATH 1000; or

  • You do not have AP/IB, dual enrollment, or transfer credit for math and would like to take a higher math than MATH 1000; or

  • You have an ACT or SAT math subsection score but would like to try to place into a higher math than your standardized test math score permits. See placement guidelines at aub.ie/mathplacement.

Consider the Foreign Language Placement Test

The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures required all entering students who have prior knowledge of Spanish, French, or German and plan to continue their language studies in these language areas at Auburn University to take a placement test to ensure correct placement in college-level language courses. If you intend to enroll in a foreign language, you can find more information regarding the foreign language placement test.

Access the pre-enrollment modules May 5

Beginning May 5 you will have access to the pre-enrollment modules. Complete the Academic College Module to help you prepare for advising.

Check for additional steps

If you are an Honors College student, member of a music ensemble, in ROTC, varsity student athlete, or utilizing VA benefits there may be additional steps you need to take. Please review information provided in Canvas and watch for emails from these advisors.
