Shannon Jones is the Coordinator of Patient Care Programs in the Office of Experiential Learning. She joined the Harrison School of Pharmacy on June 1, 2016 after spending more than 20 years in the healthcare industry as a social worker.

As the Coordinator of Patient Care Programs, she is charged with developing community partnerships and marketing the Health and Medication Monitoring Service. She also educates students and enrollees of the Health and Medication Monitoring Service about available community resources able to assist overcoming obstacles to medication management. She collaborates to maintain and improve the Introduction to Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) program quality while maintaining student records and affiliate faculty appointments.

A 1995 graduate of Auburn University, she earned a bachelor of arts in social work with minors in chemistry and psychology. After graduation, most of her work was as a home healthcare social worker, educating patients about available community resources, VA Benefits and Long Term Care options. She also has work experience in nursing homes, cancer centers, prenatal clinics, hospice, out-patient rehabilitation and adult foster care. She is a member of Alabama Society of Health Care Social Workers.

Originally from Miami, Florida, she lives in Auburn with her husband, Mark, and their two children: Nick and Alexis. Jones is also an artist who specializes in stained glass jewelry and etched glassware.
