Use Of Simulation At AUSON

What is simulation?

  • Simulation is the key to patient safety and medical quality (Nance, 2008)
  • Technique that uses a situation or environment to allow participants to experience a representation of a real event (SSH, 2013)

Why use simulation?

  • Used for the purpose of practice, learning, evaluation, testing or to gain an understanding of systems or human actions (SSH, 2013)

Currently, AUSON has incorporated simulation across the curriculum in every clinical course.

  • Every clinical course has a minimum of 10% and a maximum of 30% of the required clinical hours to be completed in simulation (Gore & Schuessler, 2013)
