Overview
Jean Dubois received her undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University, Master's degree form University of Mississippi Medical Center, and Family Nurse Practitioner certification from Mississippi University for Women. Jean is currently pursuing her doctorate in Adult Education from Auburn University. Dissertation interests are in examining relationships between health motivation, health-promoting behaviors, and health care utilization among individuals in rural settings.
Dubois has taught in associate, baccalaureate, and master's degree nursing programs at the University of Arkansas-Monticello and Mississippi University for Women. She joined the AU faculty in 1999 and currently coordinates the senior level clinical course, is active in the senior preceptorship experiences, and acts as the clinical liaison for all student clinical experiences at East Alabama Medical Center. Current research interests are critical care based with future research interested focused in community settings. In May 2003, she received the Excellence in Research Award from Theta Delta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. Jean has been an invited speaker at the national, regional, and local level on critical care and nurse practitioner topics. Currently a member of ANA, ASNA, Alabama Nurse Practitioner Council, AANP, and serving as faculty counselor for the local chapter of STTI.
