Overview
Dr. Byrd has been a clinical faculty at Auburn University since 2000 and Assistant Clinical Professor since 2007. She has facilitated the implementation of community-based Health Promotion Clinics with an affiliation between the Auburn Housing Authority and the Auburn University School of Nursing (AUSON). Additional clinics have also been established to serve the needs of the elderly and impoverished residents in the community. These clinics are staffed by the AUSON students. The students are in the clinic throughout their nursing curriculum. The students are able to sharpen assessment skills, utilize health education and health promotion skills as well as gain an understanding of culture diversity and community nursing.

Dr. Byrd’s research involves healthcare informatics. She is currently examining technology and quality of care in hospitals and technology and healthcare in Sub Sahara Africa.
